We can all be a part of the music!
Recently, the hymn of the day was “My Life Flows On in Endless Song,” ending with the beautiful reminder: “Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?” This month, we celebrate the Gracious Givers who share their musical gifts with Hope through song and instruments, led by our Music Director, Bryan Helsel.
One such gift bearer is Nate Goodrich, who plays violin in the Joyful Noise Orchestra and also shares special music throughout the year. Nate and his family joined HOPE three years ago after being invited by a friend. He and his wife, Carly, can often be found at the 9:00 a.m. service with their daughters, Scarlett (12) and Vivian (7).
Nate has been playing the violin for 35 years and as an orchestra teacher for North Allegheny, he is skilled in all bowed string instruments. He has also spent time exploring guitar along the way.
When asked what inspires Nate to share his music with HOPE, he said “I truly believe God has given me the ability to play music as a gift. If I can share this with the Hope community to add to our services from time to time, I am happy to do it. I was inspired and encouraged by musicians from my Church growing up. Hopefully, I can offer the same to others.”
And what keeps Nate as an active member at HOPE, “The people, the message, the dedication to community, the religious education for our kids, our Pastors, the music groups and the welcoming nature of those who attend services. All of it!”
We are grateful for Nate Goodrich and for the many ways he blesses our church family through music.
There are many ways to be a part of the music at Hope, and all are welcome to join! The choir meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm, beginning September 2nd, and there are also opportunities for musicians to play during the special music or as part of the Joyful Noise Orchestra. If you are someone that enjoys listening to music, more than creating it, you can still play a part. There are opportunities available to sponsor one of the concert series events held at Hope. If interested in participating in anyway, please email Bryan at musicdirector@hlc.church or talk with him after a service.
This month also marks Bryan Helsel’s one-year work anniversary. We give thanks for Bryan and for all our talented Gracious Givers who use their musical gifts to lift hearts and glorify God.
