Meet Shirley Meier, 56-year Hope Member who was married in the “old Hope church” and can be found attending the 5pm or 9am service.

Are you a coffee drinker?  I am a coffee drinker and I like to try different coffees and creamers.

When did you start helping the church by volunteering to make that much needed Sunday coffee? Honestly,  I cannot remember. It has been several plus years. There was a sign up online and I volunteered then. As it progressed, I was ask if I would like to volunteer to always make the coffee.

How much time do you spend preparing coffee on Sunday? Approximately an hour for both Narthex and community Hall. I keep things stocked for each side. Replace what is needed at the time. I will stock the water in refrigerators when needed.

Pastor says the coffee in community hall is stronger coffee, is he right? Indeed, that is because it’s Starbuck coffee (as pastor says it is the premium coffee which Pastor likes. Hot Chocolate is also offered there and is another favorite of many.

Are there other ways you give of your time at Hope or outside of Hope? I volunteer for the Hospitality Committee. I also have been one of the custodians for many years. I enjoy helping wherever and whenever needed. Helping friends.

Why have you chosen to give of your time?  I enjoy helping and giving back to our Church and serving God.

In closing, “how to make coffee directions” are posted so new volunteers have guidance.  Is there anything else that would be helpful to know.   It is simple, and you get a routine in making coffee. Donut Sunday and Special events it’s nice to have help in keeping the coffee containers filled. I would welcome showing anyone if they would be interested in learning and helping.

Just like coffee, a small cup that creates a positive impact, your willingness to give a little time can have a positive impact as well.
