What service do you attend most?

Usually 9am.

Who do you attend with?

My family, when they are available: Heather, Morgan, Payton, Brynn.

How long have you been attending HOPE?

We became members in 2010.

What brought you to HOPE?

In 2010, we were looking for a new church that was younger and more vibrant.  My mother-in-law, Marilyn Duke, was a current member and we came with her several times.  We made the transition and the rest is history.

What keeps you at HOPE?

I have a deep appreciation for the people, the fellowship and HOPE’s staff.

What are some of your passions or hobbies?

As my daughters were growing up, I became involved in coaching youth softball and basketball, assuming leadership positions in these organizations and booster boards.  Over the span of 15 years, I had the privilege to coach a countless number of girls, ages 6 to 18.  Despite my daughters no longer participating in youth sports, I remain active with Pittsburgh Power Softball travel organization as a board member.

Have you been able to incorporate them at your life at HOPE?

Indirectly, yes.  Organizing youth athletic programs and interacting with girls and parents from diverse backgrounds has expanded my perspective on the world.  Many of the same challenges exist in the operations at HOPE.  While serving on HOPE’s council, I was able to leverage these experiences to help initiate conversations and influence decisions.

What volunteer activities do you do at Hope?

I have served on council from 2019 through present day, with 2024 being my last year.  I am a member of Hope’s Security team.  When needed, I have assisted the staff for tech support of A/V or network related issues.

How does your volunteerism at Hope or elsewhere make you feel?  How does it support your life of faith?

Bringing people together for a shared purpose and common goal gives me a gratifying feeling, along with a strong sense of accomplishment and support for the community.

What other HOPE events and activities do you enjoy attending?

A few years back, I attended a Paint Ball event with the youth.  It was a blast!  This past year, I got back into golf by joining HOPE’s Thursday golf league.  It was very enjoyable!  Moreover, it allowed me to spend more time with my three daughters, who also played throughout the summer.

What inspires you to attend activities or give of your time and talents at HOPE?

I really enjoy the fellowship and meeting people.

Are there new or existing ministries that you’d like to get involved with, or learn more about?

These are yet to be named.  Once my last daughter graduates H.S. this year and I finish up with my last council term, I am expecting to get more involved in some new ministries.
