Interested in Joining Us – It’s Easy
If you’ve been around Hope Lutheran and have decided it’s a community of faith you’d like to call home, we invite you to become a member. We encourage you to participate fully in the life of the church even before your formal membership.
You can indicate your interest in membership by filling out the visitor card in the pew rack in the sanctuary. Or contact a member of the church staff to indicate your interest.
Becoming a member is a two-step process:
Want to know more about HOPE Lutheran:
- To learn more about Hope Lutheran Church and becoming a member, contact Pastor Ron, Pastor Amy or any Council Member (look for their name badge!). Get a picture of what’s happening at Hope Lutheran and how you can be a part of the adventure as a disciple of Christ
Ready to join HOPE Lutheran:
- Join us for a New Member’s Class for the big picture overview and to get the details on getting connected and ministry programs of Hope Lutheran.
New Member Class Dates for 2023 will be announced. (Twice annually, typically March-April & October-November) Please contact our Office & Communications Administrator to be sure you are on the mailing list for new member information.
If you are already a member of another congregation, you will need to contact that congregation (or ask us to make the contact for you) to request a transfer of membership.
If you have already been baptized and/or raised in the Christian faith, your reception into membership will be the same as others’. If you’ve not been baptized, we will talk with you about baptism and the instruction that is available prior to it.
We hold two new members programs each year, each consisting of two sessions. While enjoying a light lunch, you will learn more about Hope Lutheran’s mission, ministries, and opportunities to ask questions and meet others looking to join Hope Lutheran. Those interested in membership are expected to attend.
New Member Weekend:
Members are received at our worship services. It’s pretty painless – no memorization or tricky questions. We will invite you to come up front with others for a blessing and introduction.
Why Become a Member:
The only formal aspect of membership is the opportunity to vote and/or be elected to office during congregational meetings. More important, we feel, is the commitment one makes through the act of becoming a member–though a simple enough action, it does lead to more active involvement and greater participation in the life and ministry of the church.
