• What is the committee name?  Hope’s Gardening Angels
  • How many in the committee?   One . . . with an occasional helping Angel when a request for a fill-in is made.
  • Who is the leader/organizer? Melanee Killian
  • What is the primary mission and primary tasks of the Committee?  To prepare and plant in the garden beds and flower pots in the spring and maintain the flowers throughout the summer months with frequent watering and weeding. In the fall, to prune the perennial plants, remove the annuals and will decorate the flower pots for the fall and holiday season.
  • Who and how does the committee serve those at Hope?  To serve the congregation by adding a colorful array of flowers to beautify the grounds surrounding the entrance into God’s House.
  • How long have you served on this committee? Melanee has done this volunteer work for over 10 years. 
  • What got you involved in it?  Melanee was a weeding and watering Gardening Angel helper for several years until the coordinator stepped down and she volunteered to assume the responsibility of her position.
  • What other committees or activities are you involved with at Hope? In addition to the work on the garden, Melanee also just completed involvement as a member of the Pastoral Call Committee and began volunteering for the Senior Lunch Program this summer. She assists in the behind-the-scenes activities for Hope’s Golf Committee during the summer months as well.
  • What keeps you going in volunteering for Hope?   Melanee enjoys using the gifts and personal strengths that God has placed within her to help in ways that impact others and our congregation. She loves meeting new congregants and working together as a team to accomplish God’s work to help others.
  • What would you tell someone who is interested in learning more about volunteering, but may be hesitant?  Ask questions, pray over where God is nudging you to give of your time and talent, believe in yourself!

  • What is the time commitment for anyone who would like to volunteer? As little or as much time as he/she would like . . .
  • Are there any special skills or education needed to perform this committee’s tasks? No!  NO green thumb required!
