Hope’s Concert Series

A September 11 “Patriot Day” concert will feature classic organ music by composers J. S. Bach, Jean Langlais, Cesar Franck, and American composer Leo Sowerby performed by organist Kathy Kemerer.
Two works by Leo Sowerby are included in the concert. “Requiescat in Pace,” a somber and triumphant piece, was created by Sowerby in 1920 in memory of the many who lost their lives in World War I. This performance will be dedicated to the memory of those who perished 25 years ago (Sept. 11, 2001) in the terrorist attacks on our nation in New York City, Washington, D. C., and Shanksville, PA.
The second composition by Sowerby, “Fantasy for Trumpet and Organ” (1961), will feature Michael Derrico on trumpet.
