Learning About Hospitality

What is the primary mission of the group?

The primary mission of the group is to provide a warm and inviting social environment for a variety of church gatherings.

Who does the committee serve?

We serve all of the parishioners at Hope, especially in regard to events that members host in the Community Hall and require help from the committee. 

Tell us about a recent, upcoming, or annual event/responsibility of the group.

Recently, we hosted our New Member Luncheon. Members of the committee shared different responsibilities such as picking up the food order from Giant Eagle Market District, setting up and tearing down tables and chairs for the gathering. We also assisted with the post-service reception when the visitors from Madagascar joined us for our 5pm service. 

How does the committee serve those at Hope?

We help serve for various events so the people who are here for an event can relax and enjoy their time together. Fellowship is very important!

How long have you been involved?

Peggy: 8 years

Shirley: 4 years

Bob: 4 years

Why did you choose this group for service?

Peggy: There was an announcement asking for people to help serve on the committee and I thought it would be a great way to meet people and serve.

Shirley: To serve and help at different events, meet new members, and give back to the church. I enjoy helping others.

Bob: I have always believed that practicing one’s faith is both personal and communal.

What would you tell someone who is interested in learning more, but may be hesitant?

Come and meet new people– everyone works together and pitches in! It is a very flexible committee.

If I wanted to be a regular volunteer of this committee, what is the time commitment?

You can do as much or as little as you’d like, and volunteer for any event that fits your schedule!
